My story is long. I could tell you all the facts, the “supposed” reasons why it was logical to go through with the abortion. My age and circumstance in the end will not matter. I can say my fear and confusion and pressure from others was the same felt as most of us before we decided to have the abortion. What I will say is that I cannot go a day ( really no more than a couple hours) without feeling the pain in my heart, the ache and the longing for someone that was in my life and now is gone. Knowing I chose that will mess with your mind forever. It will not go away.

My name is Cindy, and unfortunately, my story is not unique. I’m a post-abortion survivor. I use this term to help others to understand that not only does abortion kill the unborn child; it also leaves an aftermath of victims. Abortion is not a “procedure” that a mother and father walk away from without painful, permanent scars.I was pro-choice from the first time I heard about abortion, which was in 1981. A friend that I went to high school with got pregnant by her boyfriend, and decided to have an abortion…It had only been 8 years since the Roe v. Wade decision, and I was a very intellectual woman. It was not a life that was being killed, it was a potential life. Life was self-sustaining, and a woman’s body was simply a life support system for that potential life. It would not be legal if it were ending someone’s life.

Dear Becky-
I don’t know what I should do. My boyfriend wants me to get an abortion. He even told me he’d leave me if Ii didn’t because he’d feel like he would be forced to stay with me if I kept the baby. I personally want to keep it. But I don’t want to lose my boyfriend in the long run. I’ve been with him for almost 2 years. later on, he said he wouldn’t leave me if i kept it, he just wanted to wait to have kids. we are only 16 years old. I understand that we are young and cannot give our baby the best life at this stage of our lives. But Ii almost thought it was worth the try. Before he said anything, I never even considered abortion. In fact, I promised myself and his mom I would never get an abortion. But I had to break that promise to myself and to his mom just so he wouldn’t leave me. So I promised him I would get an abortion.

What?!? Who would ever terminate a planned pregnancy? Yet that is exactly what I did.
At age 25 I was duped into marrying a narcissist!! He fit all of the characteristics, primarily:
• Demands subservience from others (especially those who live with him or her)
• Critical of others
• Dishonest, a master of disguise and can lie very convincingly.
Living with a narcissist is forever living with criticism, self-doubt, fear, and a loss of friends and even family members. I went from being a popular student, and a confident and successful business woman, to someone who doubted everything I did. I lived in constant fear that I would do something to set off my husband’s emotional, verbal, physical and the worst of all – psychological abuse.

I have always been a planner, and the birth of my first child was no exception. I had been married for 7 years, graduated college, had a high paying job in the IT industry, we had remodeled a bedroom into the perfect nursery, and purchased pretty much every piece of baby equipment sold – we were ready!
After our son was born we felt so fulfilled by our little family that we weren’t really sure if we would have more children, then 3 years ago I was laid off from my job – it was also the start of the recession that hit the housing industry hard and my husband’s remodeling business was suffering as well. As a result of the layoff, we not only lost income, but also our health insurance.
It was at this point that we decided we definitely were not going to have any more children, we would not be able to afford it, and we had no medical care. So we sold the crib, gave away the baby clothes we had saved just in case and instead spent the next years focused on trying to survive a very tough economy.

U.S. hurdler Lolo Jones says she’s been tempted. She says she’s had plenty of opportunities. She’s even had guys tell her that having sex with them will make her a faster runner.
A win-win situation, right?
But every time, Jones has said no. The 29-year-old Olympic athlete recently revealed on Twitter that she has never had sex. She discussed maintaining her virginity with Mary Carillo on the May 22 episode of HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.”
