Hi Becky,
My name is Alisa and I’m 17. I have a 5 month old daughter named Brooklyn, who I love with all my heart. When I first found out that I was pregnant my mom and dad both said that I should just have an abortion. Because I was a cheerleader, I was popular, I was a good student, and I had the world ahead of me. But abortion was NEVER an option for me.
I had thought awhile about adoption, but then I said no. I said that this is MY baby and I want to raise this baby as my own. When I told the father I was pregnant he too said don’t have it.
He feared that if I had the baby then his life with his girlfriend would be completely messed up. I told him no, I was going to keep the baby.
Well I had my daughter on September 9, 2009. She was beautiful. Her father was there for the birth, but didn’t stay around for very long after that. My mom and my dad have helped me so much in this decision. I have raised my daughter by myself with help from my parents for 5 almost 6 months now. No help from the father, financially or emotionally. I love my daughter with my entire heart. She is my world. I also receive a lot of support from my church family.
I have thought from time to time when things are hard, what if I hadn’t of had her, then I look at her and see her smile at me and I watch her play and all my fears, and doubts, and worries just go away. Because of my daughter I now have a much closer walk with God. And I thank Him every day for blessing me with my beautiful baby girl.
Your story is a true inspiration. Good for you for standing strong in your decision. I’m glad to hear that everything is working out so well for you, too! That is awesome. Isn’t it just so amazing how God can bring so much good out of such a difficult situation? I wish you and your baby all the best in the future.
