It can be normal especially in early pregnancy, I never spotted at all with my first two and then this time (my third) I started spotting at 18 weeks and I freaked out…the conclusion that I and my doctor came to is that I was single and abstinent for both of my other pregnancies and this time around I am married therefore I am sexually active and we figured that was what the difference was, if you have been sexually active that can cause spotting to occur and premature softening and dilating of the cervix which can release some old stored up blood, if that is not the case and you have refrained from sexual activity it could just be where the baby is implanted or from your body adjusting and it may not be a sign of miscarriage, just make sure you do what your doctor says and take it easy…12 weeks is considered "the safety zone" where after that point miscarriage is not as big of a concern, drink lots of water and pay attention to your body…never hesitate to ask your doctor questions or to go get checked out and we are all here for you as well…Love Meg
