Hey everyone. I was just wondering what my rights would be as a teen mom? My parents are somewhat being supportive, but they keep going back and forth, and they are threatening to send me to live with my grandma all the way ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!!!! Am I allowed to stay with my boyfriend here since it would be best for my baby? Or do I have to follow their rules?
      Please help!

i don’t know what state you live in or how old you are, but you might be able to get an emancipation. it lets you have the rights to live on your own, and all that , and your parents are no longer in control of you. in a simple way its like turning 18 early in ways, but having all the responsibilities of an adult.

I would have to say that would depend on just how old of a teenager you are and where exactly you live. In New York You can become emancipated as soon as you hav a dependant (that being your child).

In most states in the US you have to be 18 to legally move out or make decisions on your own. If you leave before the state’s legal age then your parents can by police or court force make you come home. So, if they want you to go somewhere else then legally you have to go until you are of legal age. Being a teen mom doesnt give you any more rights in a court, it just makes your parents’ case better. If they wanted to, they could just as easily take out a restraining order on the dad. Give them some time and they will probably come around because a child always needs a daddy. good luck!
