so im set to go to the hospital wednesday night around 10 pm, to get cervidil inserted into my vagina and ripen my cervix ( i will be 39 wks 5 days) and then the next morning i will be induced. does anyone have any stories or personal experience with cervical ripening followed by induction? im really apprehensive and nervous about it, i went to the ob today(thurs) and my daughter is still at a minus 2 or minus 1 station, my cervix hasnt begun to efface AT ALL., is there anyone who hasnt effaced with their first baby prior to labor??

PLEASE, NO LECTURES ABOUT INDUCTION, I HAVE BEEN VERY UPSET AND DEPRESSED LATELY DUE TO THE ABSENCE OF MY HUSBAND, AND A PLANNED INDUCTION IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GUARANTEE MY MILITARY HUSBAND WILL SEE HIS CHILD BORN! I BELIEVE A BABY SHUD PICK HIS OR HER OWN DUE DATE BUT IN THIS CASE I DONT HAVE A CHOICE, MY HUSBANDS PRESENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE BOTH OF US, AS IM SURE YOU UNDERSTAND. I ALREADY FEEL GUILTY ENUFF ABOUT ELECTIVE INDUCTION SO PLZ DONT JUDGE ME!!

i need some advice ladies, from anyone whos been induced, had their cervix ripened prior to induction, or didnt efface and drop prior to labor. someone please help me!!!! THANKS!!!!

sorry I can’t help you with your question, but please don’t feel guilty about getting induced. It’s only natural that you should want the father at the birth. My Dad was in the forces up until very recently and my babys Dad is also soon to be in the forces so I understand how hard it is for the guys in the forces to juggle work and family. Good luck with the birth i hope it all goes well for you. x

          Hi,
I was induced with my first child, but I didnt have the cervical rippening done first. I had a very good experience. I was only 15 years old so I was scared, but the nurses were super nice. I was only in labor for 6 1/2 hours with about 4 hours of hard labor. They say induced labor is harder, but my second child(which I wasnt induced with) was the same as my first. I personally would choose to be induced, but with my third I had a different doctor who wouldnt do it. I think you will find it to be a good experience and CONGRATULATIONS to you and your husband!

yep i went in the nightbefore my sons dudate and they gave me cervidil and the next morning the stareted the petocin.
After they gave me the cervidil they gave me morphine so i fell asleep and slept a pretty good bit that night , i wasnt in pain just a little cramping in the morning. Then they started the petocin adn i started having contractions then my water broke and the contractions came sooner and were more and more painful. But it wasnt too long after that when they gave me my epidural and then the pain was gone……

until i found out i had to have a c-section b/c he was stuck.

they induced me b/c i couldnt wait anylonger , i was going to pop! he was born on his duedate. I was so big my strech marks on my stomach were litterally cracking open and bleeding i was so streched out. I was popping..lol
            Good luck !

I’m sorry that you feel people would give you a lecture on induction. I feel that you should do what you feel you should do. Pretty simple, it’ll only make you and the child’s father- happy.

              Good luck!

I don’t know about the cervical ripening, but the induction drugs themselves will make you have faster, harder labor, so be prepared and ask that all be ready for an epidural should you require it. Please try not to worry too much, as the pain and fear will melt away when you meet your sweet baby. Good luck and God bless.

i was induced on the 12th of last month. dont feel bad about it! your baby is ready at this point. they started pitocin with me at like 5 in the morning and it did absolutely nothing pain wise for me and it was maxxed for 2 hours. They broke my water at about 7 and kept the pitocin maxxed out and thats when the pain began- and boy could i feel it then! your labor is going to be stronger with the drugs while they are on so i definately reccommend an epidural- its wonderful!!! good luck and im so glad your husband will get to be there for the birth!!

My friend recommended castor oil for labor induction. It should be taken a single dosage and mixed it with juices. It has a natural oil that helps in our labor pain specifically as a natural treatment for induced labor. I consulted my doctor for further information and my doctor approved of it but of course with monitored dosage. It is worth the risk. It helps me alot.
