Dear Becky —  I married my boyfriend when I was 5 months pregnant. We have been married for almost 5 years now, have an absolutely wonderful 4 year old son, and since then had a daughter too. I can’t imagine my life without either of my two wonderful children, and I can say for sure, to my firstborn in particular…

Dear Becky — I was blessed by a song and I wanted to share with you. The song is by Rascal Flatts, though it has been redone by various artists, including Christian artists. The song is called “Bless the Broken Road”. It is a song meant for a man and woman about coming together.

I listened to it while I had my daughter on my lap, and that made me listen to the chorus in light of my children. The song says, “This much I know is true; that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.”
I had my first child as an unplanned pregnancy. I had been dating my boyfriend for about 7 months, was always a good kid, and was stunned that this was actually happening to me. My parents did not handle it too well, but in time came around.

I married my boyfriend when I was 5 months pregnant. We have been married for almost 5 years now, have an absolutely wonderful 4 year old son, and since then had a daughter too. I can’t imagine my life without either of my two wonderful children, and I can say for sure, to my firstborn in particular, that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to him. I am so blessed. I am so thankful I stood up for life.

I have heard that song…and never thought about it in that light. How beautiful! I can relate to it so much, too. My boyfriend (now husband) and I started out on a very “broken road”, ….but God has blessed our lives abundantly. We said “yes” to life…and He has poured out His grace and mercy upon us. Thanks so much for sharing
your story.

Luv,
