Dear Becky — Hello, My name is Sarah and I am 23 years old. I am a single mother of 3 beautiful children. My oldest, Collen, is 7 years old, he was born on my 16th birthday.
My middle child, Corrine, is 5 years old and was born just after I turned 18, about half way through my senior year of high school. My youngest, Cayleigh, is 13 months old now. I have been reading some of the stories on here and I just wanted to send a little note of encouragement out to all of these young mommies and the mommy to be’s. You’ll hear over and over again that its hard and you’re life will change.
Well I’m not going to lie, it is hard and your life will change. But just remember, you will have a beautiful child to change with. And if you have someone tell you that your life is over or that you have ruined your life and blew your future away. Look them in their face and call them a liar, because that is not true. I graduated high school with an honors diploma and my two older children to share it with. I took a couple years off but I have gone back to college and doing great.
Believe me, I heard that my life was over. In a way, it was. The old life was, but I started a new one. Having kids was not my plan that early in life but life doesn’t always conform to our plan of what it should be. I conform to life and make the best of it. So no matter what people say or the looks you get or how alone you may feel, just look at your beautiful baby and say I love you too. Because that baby will love you unconditionally, even if the daddy isn’t there. And a daddy not being in the picture only hurts him, because it is he that is missing out on watching your child grow. Just know that there is always someone out there to talk to.
Even if you think so or not, there is someone. But if you remember anything I said, remember this, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! You are doing or have done the most
honorable, respectable and amazing thing that any one person can do, you brought a life into this world. And there is nothing better than that!
So no matter how overwhelmed you may get with your situation, just look at your baby and remember that is why you doing it.

Dearest Sarah — may I say WOW! What a great e-mail that you sent and thank you so much for that encouragement. I love how you put it out so straight!
You are absolutely right. When the people in your life tell you that you are ruining your life, you are not. Your life is changing, but truly when you look at your beautiful baby – that is why you are doing it! And what a beautiful thing that is to look into the eyes of your baby.
Thank you again for your powerful e-mail Sarah.
Take care.
