Im 19 years old. My boyfriend and i have been together for 3 years.
Ive started showing signs that Im pregnant, but I dont know what to do!! Thing is, Im perfectly happy with having a baby, but I think my parents would disown me if they found out! My mom tends to think that a girl’s life is over when she falls pregnant, because my mom fell pregnant at 20, and got married 3 months later, then spent the rest of her life having babies and not really achieving what she wanted to achieve… I love kids—i believe that having a healthy baby is a huge achievement. Im in college at the moment, and i know i will have to drop out or take a few months off, but the thought of risking my education makes me anxious: my parents have sent me to a rather expensive college and they really cant afford it. I feel like it will all be in vain if im pregnant.
Im thinking of abortion-i dont want to but if im pregnant and want to keep the baby i have to tell my parents. Im scared to tell my parents but hate the idea of killing off a living human being.
My boyfriend is 100% happy about me being pregnant.. He’s only 19 as well and also in college, but he’s very mature and wants a family with me.. We both earn enough to look after a baby… but its my parents (and his) that we’re afraid of.. How will i face them if i choose to keep this baby??
Honey don’t let your parents decide the fate of your life. You are a leagal adult and can make your own decisions. Just because your mom had the experience that life was over for her once she had children doesn’t mean you will have the same experience. You have income to support this child and your boyfriend is happy about it, you are not in a bad position at all. I really feel like you want to keep the baby, so keep it, and you and your boyfriend enjoy the experience of parenthood. Trust me when I say your parents won’t disown you, especially when they see their grandchild for the first time, they will fall in love with he/she and be very grateful that you kept your child. With Love, Falon
