smoking weed during pregnancy does indeed effect the baby.
one of my older friends had a pregnancy and smoked weed at the same time, she gave birth and now 4 years later her son has yet to develop proper speach and understanding whereas his nursery school friends are all developing normally.
my advise would be to quit the weed full stop. if you need help then go to a clinic to get it. you could be doing your baby some real harm for later on in life.
you have to think about your baby now.
best of luck!

Well, I smoked weed since i was 12 and i'm 17 and pregnant now.. as soon as i found out i stopped smoking drinking and any drugs...

even though u say that most of the stories you heard turned out alright theres stil one or two stories that didn't... i don't know all the facts but surely you don't want the chance of putting your baby at risk even if it is unlikely theres still a chance..

I don't mean to sound aggressive because i understand u might get stressed because i do aswell.. but you need to see passed the stress and think about whats more important.

STOP SMOKING POT during your pregnancy. It can harm your baby. Since no one, not even doctors, can pinpoint exactly how much pot it takes to actually do damage, it is better to not smoke any. It isn't worth it.

Hi! My name is Rachel and I help Becky here with the website. Email me anytime at Rachel@StandUpGirl.com. I hope this information helps.

Check out MarchOfDimes.com, they have a lot of information about marijuana use during pregnancy there.

Also, go to www.optionline.org to locate a free pregnancy center near you, where they could set you up with a healthcare provider to help you find ways to quit. Good Luck!

Question: Is it safe to smoke marijuana during pregnancy?

Answer: No. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy may affect your baby's growth and nervous system. Studies have shown that children who were exposed to marijuana during pregnancy sometimes have problems focusing their attention and difficulty in problem-solving. Children of heavy pot users may have disturbances in their short-term memory, concentration, and judgment. (There's no evidence so far, however, that marijuana use during pregnancy causes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

What's more, there's no way to know if the pot you're smoking has been laced with other drugs (such as PCP) or contaminated with pesticides, which puts your baby at even higher risk. And using marijuana increases the risk that your baby will have birth defects if you're also drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes.

If you smoked pot before you realized you were pregnant, don't panic. The chance that your baby has been affected is very small. Still, it's important to be honest with your practitioner about your previous use of pot and other recreational drugs. She may want to run some extra tests to be sure your baby is developing normally.

What you need to know:
Pot and pregnancy don’t mix. Marijuana use can reduce fertility in both men and women, making it difficult to conceive. If you are pregnant, you need to know that marijuana crosses the placenta and can affect your baby. Marijuana use during pregnancy has been linked to low birthweight in the baby and withdrawal-like symptoms including excessive crying, and tremors (shaking). Some studies suggest that children exposed to marijuana while in the womb are at increased risk of attention disorders and learning problems later in life.

What you can do:
Stay away from marijuana before and during pregnancy. If you are already pregnant, there is no evidence that marijuana smoking in the past will harm your baby. You can try some of the suggestions for quitting smoking tobacco to help you stop smoking marijuana. If you can’t give up your habit by yourself, ask your health care provider for assistance.

Okay I'm 19years old and have been smoking weed since I was 13teen. I have graduated from high school and moved on to college, so weed has never been an issue in my life. All though in february I got pregnant and decided to quit ciggarettes and alcohol. I wanted to quit weed so bad but I found my self getting really stressed out. Almost to the point were I caused myself to have a nervous break down. I smoke a joint and I'll be good, especially during first trimester when I felt sick, I smoke, and feel all better.
Obviously smoking weed isn't good for the fetus, but I feel like I'll cause brain damage to the baby if I don't sometimes ( STRESS). I'm not a huge pot head, I smoke a joint if I feel like I need one. That can usually be 1 joint a day, maybe 2 or none at all.
I have researched and heard some womens advice and alot of the time I got that it did nothing at all to their baby. I heard a story were the babies arm or leg didn't work properly, or that the baby ended up being slower in some aspect of development.
Really all I want is facts, or if you have a story please let me know.
Thanks
